CANNI Hema Free Nail Gels

What is HEMA?

Back in 2018, the British Association of Dermatologists published a research paper naming HEMA as the main cause of an ‘allergy epidemic.’ HEMA, also known as 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate or hydroxyethyl methacrylate is used as an adhesive in gel polish. It gives your polish that nice hard, shiny finish. However, its small molecules are easily absorbed into the skin and it can cause sensitisation.

It's important to note that while HEMA-free nail polishes may reduce the risk of certain sensitivities and allergies, it's always recommended to perform a patch test before using any new product, especially if you have a known sensitivity or allergy to specific ingredients. Additionally, everyone's skin reacts differently, so it's advisable to pay attention to your body's response and consult a healthcare professional if you have any concerns.
